"If you give people what they want, you are late to the game, If you want to give them something different — not that you shouldn’t care about the market — but you should see what’s missing." Stone Island CEO Carlo Rivetti was quoted saying.
When it comes to Stone Island, be prepared for the unexpected. The 40-year-old business doesn't adhere to anyone else's set of rules. In that regard, if Stone Island can ever be described as "textbook," the abrupt release of their New Balance 574 collaboration is textbook.
For instance, Stone Island's first New Balance shoe was a deconstructed version of the sophisticated FuelCell RC Elite running shoe that almost left fans unsure of how to react. No room for ambiguity or "like," only love or hate.
In spite of this, Stone Island's New Balance 574 Legacy ought to be much easier to obtain than its predecessor.
With its tonal grey colour scheme, hairy suede upper, and slightly chunky sole unit provided by the 574 Legacy model, the shoe is almost too comfortably wearable.
